The Beatles are true masters at using the latest technology and also keeping their sales intact even 30 years after they split.
Apple Corps (the Beatles company) and EMI Music (their label) are now issuing the Beatles remasters on a limited edition apple-shaped USB drive in time for Christmas.
Recently the Beatles released box-sets containing all their releases - retained in the original mono version. Simultaneously, they re-released all their albums remastered in a digital stereo version - am sure they will put out a box set of that a year later once people have bought some of these remasters.
The USB release marks the first time Beatles catalog has officially been sold as digital files separate from the CDs. Vinyl (LP) versions of the reissues are expected soon.
The USB is available for pre-order at the online Beatles store, via the band's Web site, priced $279.99. However, the India price is yet to be announced - it is normally much lower than the US price.
Limited to 30,000 units, the 16MB USB features 14 Beatles stereo releases as well as all of the re-mastered CDs' visual elements, including 13 mini-documentary films about the studio albums, replicated original U.K. album art, rare photos and expanded liner notes.
More importtantr, the USB cannot be copied.
Am attaching a picture of what the USB will look like. It's amazing
