what perfect rendition and diction of the Muthuswamy Diksitar's compostion in Sree ragam!!!
alas!! we going the remix way and tradtional classical music will have to be taught to us by outsiders!!!!!

Below is , not in traditional Carnatic style, but a performance by a band-Shakti ( female creative power) rendering a fusion of Indian carnatic and jazz styles!! Accompaniments are the ghatam, mridangam, mandolin, and tabla!

Giri Raja Suta Tanaya Tanaya a Tyagaraja compostion in Bangaala ragam !!

Although there are errors, the words are not very clear and it is not rendered to perfection
worth a one time watch!!

Ah the Shakti band.. I just love this band for their fusion music

The song is modified to suite the fusion music.. But after listening to the actual composition, I am somehow not comfortable with the fusion.. Srinivas is awesome and creates magic with mandolin.. :DD:

Here is the original composition..

Original composition too mis-pronounces Giri Raja Suta as Giri Raja Sudha
The meaning is completely altered!
Giriraja Suta Tanaya - means, son of the daughter of the mountains.
Thyagaraja has composed a song on Ganesha, son of Parvati -the daughter of Himavan
Sudha I think refers to Nectar, am not sure!!

Thanks for explaining the meaning.. Yes, I remember my guru teaching me as Giriraja suta but never knew the meaning of the song.. I first started searching with Giriraja suta but never got the result.. So, had to search with Giriraja sudha.. It has been misspelled and mispronounced everywhere.. Even Nithyashree has pronounced in the same manner..

I do not blame them , because telugu may not be their mother tongue and more over in tamil ta and da written the same way too!!
many of my tamil friends who wanted to take up Tyagaraja's compostions went on to learn the Telugu language and used Devnagiri script for the lyrics!!
The Bhakti wit which thsi great compsoer compsed is jsut awesome!!
If you get a chance watch the film called Tyagayya you will enjoy the music !!
