Himachal never was much into Bollywood. The state came into being long after India got the independence. It was created after division of Punjab.

One singer who has made a big mark in the bollywood is Mohit Chauhan. Here's a song by him based on a Himachali Folk - Thanda Paani

These are soothing songs, though some of the words are hard to understand in these songs.

very nice thread.Thakur saab....In gaanon ko sunkar Gabbar bhi khush ho jayega    ....I love Himachali folk songs, esp the Pahari ones ...guess that cld also be bcoz, pahari songs have been used so much in Bollywood..They has a lilting and soothing feel to them ..very nice.Thanx a lot for the nice songs :)

Is the album song "Piya basanti re " based on a folk tune?Similarly, does "Aaoge jab tum o saajna" from JWB have a folk base?I always thought these two songs had some level of similarity and both songs are set in the hills....Always wondered if they were roughly based on some folk tune :)
