The folk music of Kashmir reflects the rich musical heritage and cultural legacy of the state. Jammu and Kashmir is blessed with a plethora of splendid performing arts which is evident in the enchanting musical folk songs, expressive dance dramas and unique dance steps.
Reflecting the varied regional culture of the state, the enchanting music portrays the enriched folk traditions of the ancient times that have percolated to the modern era. Unaffected and unaltered by rapid industrialization and changing modern times, the traditional folk Kashmir music bears relics to the rich cultural ancestry of the state.

Kashmiri Sufiyana Music-The enchanting Kashmiri Sufiyana music displays the intense devotion of the devotee towards the Supreme Being.
Sofians musiqui (Sufi Music) owes its introduction in Kashmir to Iran. Introduced in the 15th century in the Kashmir valley, Sufiana music continues to enthrall its audience till date. With the passage of time, a number of Indian ragas were added to this music form. This classical music form of Kashmir makes the use of Santoor, Sitar, Kashmiri Saz, Wasool or Tabla.



Chakri- Accompanied with traditional musical instruments,Chakri is performed with the help of only Garaha, Sarangi and Rabab, It has included harmonium also in its presentation. It is one of the most popular forms of the traditional music of Kashmir.

Rouf or Wanwun
Rouf is a traditional dance form usually performed by girls on certain important occasions like Eid, Marriage and other functions. Rouf includes dancing and singing simultaneously. No musical instrument is required in this. Girls arrange themselves in two or three rows, each row has 5-6 girls. Each row of girls then move one step forward and then back in swaying motion while singing the Rouf song or Wanwun. Usually Rouf is called Wanwun when played in marriages. [2]


Ladishah
Ladishah is one of the most important part of Kashmiri music tradition. Ladishah is a sarcastical form of singing. The songs are sung resonating the present social and political conditions and are utterly humorous. The singers move from village to village performing generally during the harvesting period. The songs are composed on the spot on issues relating to that village, be it cultural, social or political. The songs reflect the truth and that sometimes makes the song a bit hard to digest, but they are totally entertaining

yeah me too...I don't know too much on the folk music of J&K,except what little Bollywood has introduced to me....(Bumbro is a take off from a folk song from kashmir right?) .I also remember an old Hindi serial title song...the song is from the serial "Gul gulshan gulfam"....can't find this song on youtube....but i think it was also based on some Kashmiri folk song,if I am not mistaken
