Thank you doc saab :TU:
I also found a nice quality audio of the original song here ...
http://www.esnips.com/doc/a987ef30-5331-44f8-85c2-e469bf543402/Iqbal-Bano---Dasht-E-Tanhai-Mein

And here is a video clip of our very own Rajkumari ji singing one of Iqbal Bano's famous songs ...
... dil todnewale dekhke chal, hum bhi to pade hain raahon mein

Moving on with muthfurkat...
No fancy visuals here, just some stupendously scintillating piano work by Brian Silas… What an amazing artist ! Many times I have prefered to listen to his music over the original songs. Especially during long drives. Or at work.

I couldn’t find these to present here, but some other high recommendations are Woh jab yaad aaye, bahot yaad aaye and Aaj jaane ki zid na karo. I can simply listen him for hours.

Its amazing how close he keeps to the original song, and he retains the feelings of the song too, in his tunes. I get goosepimples especially when I listen to Jaa re ud jaa re panchi or Yaad na jaaye woh din

Some of my most favs ...

Jaane kahan gaye who din

Jaane kya dhoondti rehti hain yeh aankhen mujh mein
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LuOyV0gRoq4

Yaad na jaaye woh din
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xeM3ltzsL2o

Jaa re jaa re ud jaa re panchi..

Sunil Ganguly (guitar) is great too… but I simply adore Brian Silas.

An interesting article about Indian film music history -
http://www.sabrang.com/cc/archive/2005/feb05/covernaresh.html

Remembering Anthony Gonsalves
BY NARESH FERNANDES

An extract from the loong loong article -

Compared to the journey of other Goan musicians, Anthony Gonsalves’ story is unusual, not just for his singular devotion to Hindustani music but also for the brevity of his route to the studios. Even before they found their niche in the Hindi film industry, music had always proved a dependable avenue for Goans to make a living.
