I guess every singer has their own styles of making notes and they also rehearse before singing don't they?

hi ahmed. for any song the basic important thing is shruti(sur) and laya(tempo/speed). when we learn a song, we first need to check whether we give importance to these two. then comes bhavam(expression) of the song. to know abt expression, we dont really need to know music. for example if we take the song "jaadu hai nasha hai", shreya sang this line in different ways. she 1st sang it in a pleasing way, then a lil more romantic expression added, then a kind of nashili expression. the same line if we sing it normally, we cant feel what the lyrics say. singers are the people who give life to any song. in the line "jaadu hai nasha hai", if we extend the word "nasha" and also sing it in tempo, then it gives a beautiful feel to the word. and the MD also explains the scene which is to b picturised on the song. after knowing it, the singers will present it the way they feel it. and thats how they cutshort some words or prolong some words. in a way what lathadi said is also right. every singer has their own style of giving expression

and about the musical indications, these symbols are usually used by the orchestra(piano, guitar, etc..) people.

i hope i was clear in explaining you abt it. if i made any mistake guys please correct me. and i hope u r fine with my answer ahmed :-">

Thanks a ton latadi for the detailed explanation. I can see we all are going to get really benefitted with your presence here. :) Let me take advantage of this then.

But tell me, if this is followed then isn't there a chance that the poetry gets lost when it is put to tune by the MD. Also say as you pointed out that Jaadu Hai Nasha Hai part. Who knows it could be that the poet wanted seduction at one place in his lyrics and the MD while composing asks the singer to put some other emotion.
