Folk Music and Dance of Gujarat

The most famous folk music of Gujarat is Garba, an Indian form of dance that originated in the Gujarat region. It is more similar to Western folk dance than to the presentational style of Indian classical dances such as bharatanatyam and odissi.

Garba is played during festival of Navratri in gujarat, but nowadays its famous all over india.Traditional garbas are performed around a central lit lamp. The circular and spiral figures of Garba have similarities to other spiritual dances. Alos, they have an idol of Maa Amba in middle with lamps.People dance around the center, bending sideways at every step, their arms making sweeping gestures, each movement ending in a clap.

Different region of gujarat has different styles of playing.they use different prop and show their devotion.
