Which Music Director has done most harm to Bollywood Music? I will give you options, but you are free to add more names....

1) Bappi Lahiri
2) Himesh Reshamia
3) Anu Malik
4) Pritam

My vote goes to Bappi da. Music was reduced to "beats" and the pronunciation was extremely faulty in his era...What say?

Disclaimer : Its not to insult any Music Director.....but about the influence that they had in the Bollywood music.....They all have given some great songs to us and we respect their creativity.

Thats a unique topic.. If it was singer, then my vote for Himesh But as its MD, its difficult to choose.. Each one of them have given good music at some point of time.. Cant much think of any right now.. Will get back later..

himesh isnt harm amything to music..he is gd MD .. like anu di said singer hota then i will defo vote for him too

in retrospect,

Music composer is just one important part of those coterie of individuals consisting of producer, director & lyricist who contribute towards the degradation of music especially in Hindi films. The music of a film depends a lot on the diktats of the producer & the director of the film who are mainly concerned more with the cash returns than the quality or the artistic or aesthetic nature of film making.

Here many an uncompromising MDs may find that their creativity & talent has no value, as a result do not find favour with many directors/produces, who most of the time impose their own ideas and might not give much leeway & freedom needed by the composer. They even direct the MD to adopt some unscrupulous means like lifting popular & catchy tunes of other successful artists from all over the world(Prime example: Anu malik & Mahesh Bhat).

Also I doubt whether the MD has any say in the choice of the singer nowadays where the emphasis increasingly is on quantity rather than quality.

Finally the main culprits here are ourselves the listening, buying Janta who encourage and create demand for such mediocrity instead of appreciating & promoting genuine talent. Hence we have musical reality shows where sub-standard singers reach finals & win or the Filmfare awards where the benchmark is the number of votes(read popularity)rather then excellence or efficiency. The likes of Himesh Reshammiya waddle in millions of bucks whereas we have the sad stories of many of our prime classical artistes who live and die in penury(they don't care whether we hear or like them, for them music is "Sadhana").

So we deserve what we choose/select/elect.

My choice for the most harmful MDs all are equally below average(Reason their mediocrity overwhelmingly outweighs their miniscule quality output if any)

PS:It would be interesting to discuss the misadventures/mishaps/disasters/duds/embarassments/so on & so forth of the above bunch and of the other appreciated highly rated & respected as well. I always find the worst lists fun to read lol.

I agree with the list except for Aadesh.. Aadesh has struggled a lot and he is one of the good composers we have.. Well, its my perspective but according to me, he has given some nice songs which has become unnoticed.. He atleast knows the ABC of music unlike MDs like Annu Malik, Anand Raj Anand etc..

BTW - Even I agree with Nadeem Shravan in the list but he has won 5 filmfare awards

Please guys give Bappi lahiri some credit..he gave fabulous music in Namak halaal and sharaabi,chalte chalte,dil se mile dil......

fully impressed I think on same line but won't be able to write so well and these would be my choice and ranking as well. No one has done as much harm to music as HR, he is the worst influence we ever had, his compositions are very mediocre, somewhere down the line I explained in full detail how most of his compositions are based on asawari thaat with hardly any use of komal swaras when he is on major scale he doesnt deviate from more than 3-4 chords, I never heard any of his song venturing towards poorvi, todi thaat, I can bet he cant compose even a single thumri or khayyal, he is worst than bathroom singer.
